NEW YORK — Tecnica Group recently announced that it has appointed Jean-Luc Diard as SVP for business development to lead the second stage of the firm’s three-year outdoor program.
Diard, who most recently served as CEO of Salomon Group, will begin at the firm on Sept. 1.
Tecnica, the European outdoor footwear company that produces the Lowa, Tecnica and Dolomite brands, plans to follow its acquisition of Blizzard Skis last year by capitalizing on the presence of its key brands at specialized retailers in markets around the world, with emphasis on the U.S. market.
The firm hopes to build a presence in the winter sports equipment category, and said increasing its footwear position in the U.S. is one primary goal.
“We strongly believe in this project, which represents a milestone in the company strategy for the future,” said Giancarlo Zanatta, president and CEO of Tecnica Group, in a statement. “We are confident our brands can be as powerful and successful in the outdoor market as they are in the ski-market, where the Tecnica Group will continue to reinforce its leadership. I give my warmest welcome to Jean-Luc, one of the most experienced managers in the sport industry.”
