Skechers Nabs Idol Winner for Fall Campaign

NEW YORK — Skechers USA Inc. announced Wednesday that the latest “American Idol” winner, David Cook, has signed a global endorsement agreement with the company, effective through December 2009.

“I have always viewed Skechers as a cool company, so I am excited to be a part of their campaign,” Cook said in a company statement.

The campaign will feature Cook in numerous Skechers styles and is launching this fall, coinciding with the “Pop-Tarts American Idols Live Tour 2008.”

“We are thrilled that David will be representing Skechers in our marketing campaigns around the world,” said Skechers President Michael Greenberg in the statement. “As a dynamic performer with a friendly, approachable personality, he’s a perfect fit for the Skechers brand and an exciting next step for our tradition of successful partnerships with emerging music stars.”

Cook joins an impressive roster of celebrities that have graced Skechers advertisements, including fellow “Idol” alum Carrie Underwood, as well as Christina Aguilera, Ashlee Simpson and actors Matt Dillon and Robert Downey Jr.
