1991: The first DSW store debuted in Dublin, Ohio, when Schottenstein Stores Corp. and Nacht Management launched the concept as a close-out business.
1998: This Columbus, Ohio, store was designed to showcase the retailer’s vast assortment of styles with a massive 25,000-sq.-ft. selling floor. However, having shoes all displayed at the same height proved intimidating to some customers.
2005: DSW executives, including Ben Kraner, Joey Schottenstein, Jonathan Schottenstein, Jay Schottenstein, Debbie Ferrée and Doug Probst, rang the bell at the New York Stock Exchange the day the company issued its IPO.
2007: The company debuted in May 2007 a 143,600-sq.-ft. headquarters in Columbus, adjacent to its old offices and distribution facilities
2008: DSW.com launched with more than 2,000 styles from at least 175 brands. It has since grown to encompass the equivalent of 30 brick-and-mortar stores.
2011: The signatures of employees and vendors on a wall at the company’s headquarters is a tradition that started in 2007 and today serves as a testament to their dedication to DSW’s core values, which were developed by a group of company staffers.
