Exclusive First Look: Vilebrequin Expands Into Footwear For Spring 2016

Iconic French swimsuit brand Vilebrequin is dipping its toes into the footwear market for spring ’16. Thursday the brand officially launches its first men’s shoe collection, including an espadrille, flip-flops, slip-on sneakers and moccasins.

In keeping with its St. Tropez roots, the styles can effortlessly take one from beach to lunch to pool. Some of the shoes feature the brand’s Bubble Turtles print–a continuation of its theme from its spring ’16 collection. The moccasins are offered in both leather and rubber.

The brand, founded in 1971 by Fred Prysquel, is known for its colorful, printed men’s swim trunks as well as its “Father and Son” matching concept, but perhaps will become synonymous with easy vacation footwear as well.

This has been a time of firsts for the more than 40-year-old brand. Last fall, it launched a capsule line for winter, the “Aspen Collection,” catering to its vacationing customers and their aprés-ski needs.

The collection will be available to purchase at Vilebrequin boutiques and Vilebrequin.com, as well as other select retailers.
