On the eve of the NBA Playoffs, Under Armour unveiled its latest shoe for Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry, a shoe that he’s worn in games towards the end of the regular season – the Under Armour Curry 2.5.
The Under Armour Curry 2.5 is set to drop on UA.com and Foot Locker on May 28, with a worldwide release slated for July 1. The shoe will retail for $135.
The shoe, according to the brand, is inspired by Curry’s precise movements and focus under pressure, and its design – described by Under Armour as sharp and targeted – was influenced by the look of a warrior’s spearhead. The upper boasts the diamond shape of a spearhead, which also is symbolic of five teammates working forging an unbreakable bond.
The shoe also features nods to the Warriors and the team’s home in Oakland, Calif. The molding boasts lines that are inspired by the Bay Bridge that connects the East Bay with San Francisco, as well as the GPS coordinates to the Oracle Arena on the heel.
The shoe boasts Under Armour’s renowned Charged Cushioning technology, which is built to be responsive and absorb impact. Aside from proprietary technologies, the shoe features a molded synthetic upper for a precise fit, external heel and midfoot shanks for stability, and a multi-direction herringbone traction pattern on the sole for grip.
Curry and the Warriors will open the playoffs at home, hosting the Houston Rockets tomorrow at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.
