With the group matches underway leading up to the final — scheduled for June 26 — Copa América fever is alive and well. Capitalizing on the moment’s biggest global soccer tournament is Packer Shoes, which is releasing a U.S.-inspired limited collab with heritage soccer label Umbro.
The Packer Shoes x Umbro Linesman Trainer “Copa 100” arrives at the retailer’s Jersey City, N.J., location and its website, packershoes.com, at noon ET on Saturday. Only 30 pairs of the shoes were made, which will retail for $175. Sizes 7.5 to 13 are available, and the retailer recommends customers purchase a half-size down since the shoes run big.
The Packer collab uses the Linesman Trainer — Umbro’s lifestyle silhouette with characteristics taken from its legendary Speciali boot — which was handmade in Portugal using premium full grain leather and buttery suede. The shoe features the brand’s XL Extralight outsole unit, made in Italy, adding to its luxurious look and feel.
The shoe’s upper is predominantly black with blue and red panels on the heel, and is completed with a white sole. It also boasts many patriotic elements, including stamped stars on the tongue flaps (that change to Packer and Umbro branding when flipped), 13 perforated stripes along the lateral sides, and a circular stars-and-stripes crest on each footbed, dust bag and packaging.
Packer and Umbro also collaborated on an apparel capsule collection featuring two USA jerseys — white and red — retailing for $80, as well as a USA Polo for $50.
