Nike released the first colorway last week of its “Strong As Steel” collection for its latest training shoe, the Metcon 2. The athletic behemoth is set to release another colorway from the collection Monday.
The Nike Metcon 2 “Strong As Steel,” boasting a black, total orange, purple dynasty and gum medium brown color palette, will retail for $140.
The colorway, according to the brand, is reminiscent of the hands-on hammering and shaping of metal while it’s still hot and becoming what it will eventually be, getting stronger every second. The shoe has a more toned-down feel to the first Metcon 2 “Strong As Steel” release, which featured a bold total crimson and black color palette, but still features an aggressive look synonymous with the workouts performed in them.
The upper is primarily black with purple dynasty paneling and total orange accents. The shoe’s outsole, which is made of the brand’s popular gum medium brown color, provides contrast to the upper.
Although the shoe has an appealing look, its main function is to perform. The Metcon 2 boasts a flat and stable platform to complete the toughest of lifts, which features a supportive and durable dual-density foam midsole. The shoe uses an outsole with firm rubber in the heel and sticky rubber on the forefoot for both stability and traction. It also features a zero-drag heel for handstand pushups and Flywire technology for better foot lockdown.
