Vibram announced today that it has entered a footwear partnership with Gold’s Gym, which will produce a Gold’s Gym FiveFinger shoe scheduled to hit North American stores in early 2017.
“The launch of a Gold’s Gym FiveFingers cross training shoe with Vibram offers another meaningful way for fitness enthusiasts to connect with the Gold’s Gym brand beyond the gym,” Michael Cobb, CMO of Gold’s Gym, said in a statement. “Vibram’s footwear expertise is invaluable and we look forward to developing a shoe that maximizes function and form.”
Vibram confirmed that Brand Sense Partners, the exclusive licensing agency for Gold’s Gym, negotiated and executed the footwear partnership.
“The partnership between the two brands is inherent referencing back to the legendary photos from Gold’s Gym Venice, where famous bodybuilders tended to workout barefoot,” said Chris Melton, Vibram’s sales director. “Vibram FiveFingers is a natural training tool for active people everywhere, indoors and outdoors, from weekend warriors to professional athletes.”
The partnership, according to Vibram, is a testament to the dedication to fitness that it and Gold’s Gym shares.
“The Vibram FiveFingers 2017 collection and the Gold’s Gym partnership renews Vibram’s dedication to (natural) fitness, indoors or outside,” Peter von Conta, VP of product design of Vibram, said in a statement. “For 10 years, Vibram FiveFingers has provided a natural platform for fitness that is lightweight, comfortable and places the user closer to the best of Vibram sole technology.”
