Concepts, now in its 20th year, has grown from a boutique retailer in Cambridge, Mass., to a premier lifestyle store and brand, with an additional storefront in New York City. To further bolster its global expansion efforts, it appointed a new president.
The retailer-turned-brand announced today the appointment of Tre Lucas to the position.
Lucas, according to Concepts, is a seasoned expert in strategy and operations, and he was brought onboard to lead its efforts in transitioning from a boutique retailer to a global brand. The retailer stated that Lucas would be responsible for getting its Dubai location prepared to open as early as spring ’16 and seek growth opportunities for the company in other international markets.
Tarek Hassan, owner of Concepts, established the store in 1996. In November, Hassan opened its permanent NYC location, bordering the Tribeca and SoHo neighborhoods. The store was opened after a year of testing the New York market with pop-up shops for its collaborations.
Concepts has been busy releasing sneaker collabs with the top brands in the athletic industry this year to celebrate its 20th anniversary, including Diadora on the “Concepts Pack” N9000, New Balance on the TBTF “Night Trail” and Nike on the Free Trainer 1.0 “Thermal.”
