NBA rookie Kris Dunn experienced a culture shock when he moved to Minnesota from his longtime Connecticut home in the offseason, which was the subject of the latest Desiigner-assisted Champs Sports ad.
The G.O.O.D. Music rap star was paired with the Adidas-sponsored Dunn for the first Champs Sports x Adidas Originals: Game City campaign, starring the young point guard for the Timberwolves.
In the clip, Dunn spoke about his experiences as a young athlete in the NBA on and off the court, including walking over the skyway when it gets cold outside and being around locals who are nicer than he’s used to. Dunn — along with Desiigner — also played basketball (and Desiigner dunked), went bowling with 50 consumers at Bryant Lake Bowl in Minneapolis, and shopped at a Champs store dressed head to toe in Adidas gear.
According to the athletic retailer, Dunn’s video is the first of three in the Game City initiative with Adidas.
Dunn was selected No. 5 overall out of Providence College in the 2016 NBA Draft. In his first season with Minnesota, Dunn is averaging 3.7 points, 2.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game coming off the bench. Adidas announced it had signed Dunn — along with four other members of the 2016 rookie class — in June.
