The two will release the ClimaCool 1 sneaker that takes inspiration from Coca-Cola’s products. The two companies first collaborated on the same shoe in 2002 for the FIFA World Cup and it sold out quickly.
According to Kate Dwyer, group director of worldwide licensing for Coca-Cola, the shoe was one of Adidas’ “most sought-after shoes ever introduced.”
Adidas and Coca-Cola are once again timing the release with a major event in world soccer: the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament, which runs June 10-July 10 in France. The shoes will be available worldwide starting May 28 at select retailers including Colette in Paris, the Colette online store and the Coca-Cola online store.
Silver and black editions of the sneakers will drop later this summer.
The shoe includes some of the same features that the original did including its ClimaCool breathable mesh upper, TPU overlays on the toe and sides, and a perforated sockliner and outsole for even more breathability. Although intended as a runner when it was originally released, Adidas’ options in that category have expanded significantly since then and include Boost and Primeknit technologies.
