“For our first collaboration, we wanted to do the classic shoe with a twist,” Pink Dolphin creative director Cena Barhagi explained to Footwear News on Friday while celebrating the launch of Puma x Pink Dolphin at a kickoff event at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. “I think the translucent sole is the part that everyone really likes about the shoe.”
The footwear is designed in dark blue and pink silhouettes, featuring translucent soles with a gradient print, wave artwork along the heel and co-branded insoles. Priced at $80, the shoes, released early, have sold out online.
Along with the suede kicks, the range includes soccer jerseys, T-shirts and socks, will be available at Puma.com and select Footaction stores on Friday.
The collection is inspired by the contrasting colors of the ocean and ecosystem — blue, pink and aqua. (Think watching the sunset by the ocean.)
Pink Dolphin’s chief executive officer Neima Khaila said working with Puma was “like a bucket list thing for us.”
“I’m a big soccer fan,” he added. “We got a chance to make authentic jerseys with an iconic brand. Puma is so big in that soccer space.”
