People magazine has announced that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is its 2016 “Sexiest Man Alive.”
Julie Jordan, a West Coast writer for the magazine, made the big reveal on the “Today” show this morning.
“There’s something about him that people just gravitate towards,” said Jordan. “He’s a good person, he has a huge heart — he’s a big guy, but he’s got an even bigger heart. Professionally, he’s had an amazing year. He’s the highest-paid actor in the world now. Kindness is everything to him, and that’s what he feels is most important.”
Johnson follows in the footsteps of last year’s winner, David Beckham. The issue highlights the magazine’s picks for “Sexiest Men” in Hollywood, music and more.
The former WWE champion wrestler is also set to make his mark on the sneaker world next year. His first signature shoe with Under Armour is set to drop sometime in the first quarter of 2017. Johnson and Under Armour recently debuted a T-shirt that benefits U.S. troops. Johnson also continues to make his mark in Hollywood, most notably starring in Disney’s buzzed-about upcoming animating movie, “Moana.”
I come from a family of proud military soldiers – from the Vietnam War to Navy SEALS. Since you've been loving our designs, I wanted to create a simple yet powerful design with my @UnderArmour partners that gives back to our military community while paying respect and homage to our country's most powerful symbol: our RED, WHITE AND BLUE. To me our flag stands for strength, self betterment and an unbreakable spirit. I stand for it, salute it, respect it and protect it. Through my partnership with @underarmour and the company’s @UnderArmourFreedom initiative in support of military, veterans and first responders, our goal is simple: these athletes have risked their lives for our freedom. They deserve everything we can give back to them. Like our motto says, first and foremost, we are patriots. It's from the heart and you can expect big things from us in the future. *A portion of ALL proceeds from this new product will go directly to programs that aid US troops first responders and their families as part of our #UAFreedom initiative.
