While she’s often the woman in the background or flanking presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail, Huma Abedin, Clinton’s longest-serving staffer and presidential campaign vice-chair, steals the scene with her youthful yet urbane style. Unlike most Washington insiders, the political operative is not afraid to sport bold colors, statement baubles and eye-catching prints, topping it all off with statement-making, yet sensible pumps.
Even while juggling multiple responsibilities as a working mom, Abedin is committed to heels. Fashion is important to her: She’s a fan of designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang and Alexander McQueen. “I have often thought that if I weren’t in politics I would work in fashion,” she told Vogue.
Still, much like first lady Michelle Obama, she’s mastered putting together high and low, with a J.Crew suit and maybe a towering stiletto. Below, check out a few of her standout looks, whether on the red carpet or the tarmac.
