Katy Perry is ready to make a major statement in the shoe business.
After greeting hundreds of enthusiastic fans on the FN Platform show floor on Monday, the designer gave FN a tour of her kitschy debut collection full of statement pieces. Perry wore her ankle-strap sandals with “cigar” heels — a personal favorite — for the occasion.
“I was intensely involved in [designing the shoes]. I’m involved in everything I create,” Perry told FN as she walked us through the collection.
The songstress announced her new venture with Global Brands Group earlier Monday. The collection includes sneakers, sandals and heels ranging in price from $59 to $299.
What stood out most in the new line were the decorative elements and embellishments. Perry showed off a bunny-adorned shoe and another look with decorative ombre heels.
Perry also noted that she named all of the styles in the line after her friends. Case in point: “The Jamie,” a multicolored croc sandal named after her friend and stylist, Jamie Schneider Mizrahi, who was on hand to support Perry on Monday.
