Max Mara CEO Nicola Maramotti was there to present the award, saying, “She has a knack for making mythical, larger than life, fictional characters seem like well — real people.” Dormer is well known for her role as Queen Margaery Tyrell in TV’s “Game of Thrones” and roles in films such as “The Hunger Games,” “The Forest” and the upcoming “Patient Zero.”

The annual gala, held by nonprofit Women in Film, honors women and men who have helped to expand the role of women within the entertainment industry on and off the screen.

Taraji P. Henson was also honored at the event with the Lucy Award for Excellence in Television, as she continues to garner critical acclaim for her role as Cookie Lyon on Fox’s “Empire.” Henson made a statement in a Marc Jacobs dress and Jimmy Choo heels for the occasion.
