Donald Trump’s wife of 18 years is accused of lifting portions of her speech from first lady Michelle Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Comparisons show that Trump’s speech matched Obama’s nearly word for word at certain points. The Trump campaign is denying these allegations, telling CNN that it would be “just really absurd” for Trump to plagiarize.
“In writing her beautiful speech, Melania’s team of writers took notes on her life’s inspirations, and in some instances included fragments that reflected her own thinking,” said Trump senior communications adviser Jason Miller in a statement. “Melania’s immigrant experience and love for America shone through in her speech, which made it such a success.”
Melania Trump — a former model and mother to Barron, one of Donald Trump’s five children — opted for a fitted white Roksanda dress with bell sleeves and Christian Louboutin Pigalle nude patent leather pumps for her speech. The shoes have a nearly 5-inch heel and retail for $675. Michelle Obama also has a taste for designer heels, most often opting for pairs by Jimmy Choo.
The convention continues today and will feature speeches this evening by several notable Republicans including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and two of Donald Trump’s children, Donald Jr. and Tiffany.
