Donald Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States, with Hillary Clinton conceding to the Republican nominee early this morning. Many celebrities had been outspoken about their support for Clinton, who had hoped to become the first female U.S. president. Lady Gaga, Lena Dunham, Katy Perry, Kenneth Cole, Diane von Furstenberg and others had declared their support for the Democratic nominee. While Trump did speak early this morning, Clinton has not made an address yet, but is expected to this morning.
Some celebrities and fashion industry members have already shared their reaction to the results.
Today we must continue to stand for what we believe in: love, acceptance, equality, fairness and respect for all. We mustn't be divided. We must reach out and hold on to each other… To our friends, families and communities who share our common goals of unity, compassion and faith. I will continue to #spreadlove and fight hate at all costs. This is the beginning of a new chapter for our country, and together we must embrace it so that we can move forward as one. Know your values, keep your head high, stand strong… we're in this together. ❤️🇺🇸 #radiatelove
