The model was there to discuss her new collaboration with Stuart Weitzman (she also collaborates with Tommy Hilfiger). The Gigi boot, which landed online and in Stuart Weitzman stores last week, is a lace-up style done in three color variations: a black crocodile-print calf leather, a metallic silver “iron specchio” and a bronze metallic “copper glass.” For her appearance, Hadid wore the silver pair.
The heeled hiker, which ranges in price from $565-$595, was co-designed by Hadid. A portion of the boot’s sales will go toward Stuart Weitzman’s $105,000 commitment to Pencils of Promise, a nonprofit that is building schools in Guatemala, Laos and Ghana.
Hadid sat with “Today” co-host Matt Lauer to talk about the boots and Pencils of Promise. Hadid said she’s been supporting Pencils of Promise since 2013.
“That’s called an ‘it-girl,’ doing right by the term,” Lauer said. “I think that’s fantastic.”
Lauer joked with Hadid about some other topics, including the Halloween party she attended with some other famous friends at Taylor Swift’s New York apartment. He also brought up a photo of Hadid out in New York on Tuesday in which she was wearing a sweatsuit, Reebok sneakers and a super-long coat.
“You know from watching the show that I’m a germ-phobe,” said Lauer. “Look at your coat dragging in the streets! Do you know what’s in the streets of New York?”
Hadid told Lauer that the coat was given to her straight off the runway and was already dirty. “I only walked across the street to get coffee! That’s as far as I went yesterday,” said Hadid.
“There is not a dry cleaner in the world good enough to sanitize that,” said Lauer.
After her segment, Hadid stayed to taste a Thanksgiving meal prepared by Martha Stewart in the “Today” kitchen. “Gigi’s down here chowing down on this turkey, and she said, ‘You know what I have to do after this? I have my fitting for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,’ ” Lauer said.
