The event, the seventh to date, was co-sponsored by The Friendship Foundation, a non-profit California-based group dedicated to supporting children with special needs. This year marked the most successful fundraising campaign in the history of the walk, with $434,000 in funds donated to The Friendship Foundation and $932,000 dedicated to local public education foundations. To date, the event has raised nearly $5.5 million.
On hand to make the presentation on March 10 at the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach, Calif., will be Skechers President Michael Greenberg, along with such company brand ambassadors as former pro boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, baseball legend Tommy Lasorda, Disney stars Matthew Royer and Benjamin Royer and Nickelodeon’s Riele Downs.
“Our goal always is to help as many children as possible,” said Greenberg. “The Friendship Foundation and many children rely on our contribution to provide the necessary funds for the many programs the children participate in. With that said, we would like to raise over $1.5 million this year to make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many children.”

In addition to the fundraising event, Skechers Foundation will be launching a scholarship program that will distribute $25,000 in scholarships. The foundation was established in 2010 by the Greenberg family, Skechers’ founders, and designed to help strengthen communities globally by supporting special needs children, improving education and empowering disadvantaged youth.
The 2016 walk will take place on Oct. 23.
