Kanye West signed a pair of Yeezy Boost 350s, while Kim Kardashian West signed a pair of shoes from her Kardashian collection, both to be auctioned on eBay tomorrow. All proceeds will benefit Soles4Souls and their mission to help those in need.
“It was very generous of them and this will bring in some good cash that we can put to use on the feet of people in need,” said Soles4Souls CEO Buddy Teaster. “Their involvement has increased awareness of [our organization] in the sneakerhead world, and a lot of support has come from their following.”
The donation comes on the heels of a previous donation of 1,000 pairs from the West family in December, when they heard about 18-year-old Amelia Flores from Wichita, Kan. Flores was working to collect 2,000 pairs of shoes, and thanks to the Wests’ involvement and Twitter callout, she exceeded her goal.
In fact, Flores was honored at FN Platform in Las Vegas Tuesday with a life-sized plane ticket to Central America for a giving trip by Soles4Souls to mark her contributions and the offer to travel on a giving trip with the organization. The nonprofit is currently working with Flores to donate the 1,000 pairs of shoes donated by the Wests across locations like Los Angeles and her home state of Kansas.
“The whole thing has been amazing,” added Teaster. “Their presence is something to behold.”
