The Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based company, which pleased market watchers Wednesday with a solid fourth quarter performance, tomorrow will kick off its first sponsorship of the Los Angeles Marathon.
Skechers announced last August that it would be the lead sponsor of the race, held on Feb. 14.
The company said it would launch several initiatives around the race, including a new advertising campaign starring Meb Keflezighi and Kara Goucher, as well as supplying shirts for all finishers and a comprehensive line of race apparel.
Skechers will also unveil specially created sneakers for the race. The limited-edition styles — called Skechers GoRun Forza, Ultra Road and Ride 5 — come in varying shades of deep blue, enamel green and turquoise.
“This weekend is creating so much excitement across Los Angeles,” said Rick Higgins, SVP of Skechers’ merchandising and marketing unit, in a statement. “We truly wish all the runners, supporters and partners of the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon the very best. What makes this race even more significant is that on Saturday, we will have 27 of our elite athletes competing at the Trials to make the 2016 U.S. Olympic team, and leading the pack are our very own Meb and Kara Goucher. We’ll be supporting them with all the fans, friends and family.”
