Sneakers, pumps or flats?

Next to “Did I study enough for the final?” and other inquiries of the academic kind, “What am I going to wear today?” tops the list of toughest questions teens face every morning before walking out the door.

With the holidays in full swing and party invites piling up, who isn’t constantly shuffling through their closet in an attempt to construct their best holiday look?

So Footwear News enlisted the help of Leila Roker, LaGuardia High School student and daughter of everyone’s favorite weatherman and TV news anchor, Al Roker, along with three of her gal pals, to dish on what’s trending in teen fashion.

Here, Leila and her friends talk go-to styles for holiday parties, their favorite brands and the shoes they’d love to receive as gifts.

What’s your dream pair of shoes to receive as a gift for the holidays?

Jeffrey-Campbell-Verite-Boot Jeffrey Campbell Verite-Lo Boot. Zooji.

Jeffrey Campbell’s Verite vegan-leather boots. I think a classic ankle boot is nice, but the fact that this pair has a clear heel is so dope.

What shoes are you wearing to holiday parties this year?

I keep it pretty consistent with what I wear even when it isn’t the holidays. I love a good black heel with a peep toe or just some platform boots if I don’t feel like being in total pain by the end of the night.

Where do you do your holiday shopping?

Places with decent sales, like Urban Outfitters or Lush for skincare. The best bet in New York are the pop-up holiday bazaars because there are tons of fun peeks at a bunch of different stores that everyone will love, and no one is going to have the same gift.

What are your three favorite brands?

Too many of my clothes are from Topshop, but it continues to be one of my favorites. I [also] love Asos and Asos Marketplace for shoes and clothes, and Missguided always has great deals.

What’s your dream pair of shoes to receive as a gift for the holidays?

Black high-top leather PF Flyers. Black high-top leather PF Flyers. Zappos.

Black PF Flyers. They’re like the doper version of Converse, in my opinion, and are underrated.

What shoes are you wearing to holiday parties this year?

My black leather ankle boots that I got from Urban Outfitters. They literally go with everything and never disappoint me.

Where do you do your holiday shopping?

Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and thrift shops throughout Brooklyn and New Jersey. My closet is generally pretty mismatched, but I think those brands mesh together pretty well.

What are your three favorite brands?

My black leather ankle  boots, my Air Forces and my white Converses. They’re easy to move in, which comes in handy for getting around in the city.

What’s your dream pair of shoes to receive as a gift for the holidays?

The rainbow Adidas Hologram sneakers with wings are insane!
[Editor’s note: Jeremy Scott x Adidas Wings collaborated on the Rainbow Hologram sneakers in 2013.]

What shoes are you wearing to holiday parties this year?

Sarah Flint Resort '16 Shoes Celia black Nappa pump by Sarah Flint. Courtesy of brand.

Party glitter usually clouds my judgment. If my dress is glittery or has some gems, I’ll go for a beige or black heel. If I’m wearing a simple black dress, I bring out my mom’s silver glitter pumps and silver-and-gold eye shadow.

Where do you do your holiday shopping?

Usually stores in my neighborhood (Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn). You can find some fun things for super cheap at places like Dollar Tree and Five Below to throw in your stockings.

What are your three favorite brands?

I usually don’t think about brands, but my favorite stores would have to be Urban Outfitters, Salvation Army or Goodwill and maybe L Train Vintage. American Apparel is nice, too.
