It wasn’t just the runways of Italy’s fashion capital that showcased menswear trends. With Milan Men’s Fashion Week having just come to an end, the sartorial stylings of showgoers was also indicative of the current male fashion climate.
Athleisure was omnipresent on runways such as Bottega Veneta, Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo. And judging by the editors, buyers and industry execs seen wearing sneakers and all-terrain sandals, it’s already been adopted by the cognoscenti. Lo-top favorites from Nike and Adidas were ubiquitous, but more daring souls took a forward step in true running-performance styles from smaller brands. The takeaway: Clashing-colored pairs were worn with loose tailoring for the freshest spin.
This being Milan, classic styles such as tasseled loafers, brogues and polished oxfords were also prevalent.
Other notable styling quirks included removing ones laces, pairing socks with sandals and even anklets. Gentlemen: do try this at home.
