Since it’s springtime in Argentina, Footwear News spotted locals heading out for a day of shopping on Florida Street — a legendary pedestrian street in the capital’s downtown — sporting sandals, funky wingtips and even boots, all on bold bottoms.
The look spanned generations from teens to adults, pairing these bottom statements with ripped jeans to colorful leggings. Some opted to reveal a little leg via shorter skirts, further emphasizing the bottom-focused shoes.
Store windows reflected consumer preferences for the look as well, with bold silhouette dominating displays. Price points along the popular shopping drag typically fell under the $100 mark, making the look accessible to a wide range of shoppers.
What was absent from the footwear scene were stilettos. While sky-high heels are a wardrobe basic in the States and Europe, Argentinian consumers prefer the stability of a platform or flatform.
