The New England Patriots’ Rob Gronkowski and the Miami Dolphins’ Ndamukong Suh face off in a snowy showdown for Nike’s latest winter training campaign commercial. The NFL power players star alongside 19 other professional athletes in Nike’s new ad “Snow Day,” which fittingly debuts tonight, Oct. 29, during Thursday Night Football, when the Patriots take on the Dolphins.
In the two-minute clip, a blizzard hits, and despite the harsh weather, Gronk and Suh lead two teams consisting of some of the world’s best athletes in a competitive game of tackle football in the snow, all while wearing Nike cold weather products.
“Snow Day” kicks off Nike’s #GetOutHere campaign, which highlights key products like the Flash Pack shoe collection, featuring a multicolor reflective print to help keep runners visible in low-light conditions during the cold and dark days of winter.
Another NFL player seen in the short film includes the New York Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr.,who recently talked to Footwear News at Foot Locker’s “On Our Feet’ Charity Gala. He said, “One day I hope to create my own sneakers, but for now I wear a lot of different things.” He also admitted that the Nike Air Mags from “Back to the Future II” are the sneakers he covets the most.
Other pro-athletes featured in the ad were the Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell, Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown,World Cup-winning soccer stars Sydney Leroux and Carli Lloyd, tennis star Eugenie Bouchard, WNBA player Elena Delle Donne, boxer Marlen Esparza, triathlete Paula Findlay, weightlifter Lauren Fisher, Indiana Pacers’ Paul George, Cincinnati Bengals’ A.J. Green, Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green, Carolina Panthers’ Luke Kuechly,Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota, Buffalo Bills’ LeSean McCoy, San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle and NHL star Steven Stamkos.
Along with the campaign film, Nike released behind-the-scenes footage which includes the cast reminiscing about their favorite snow day memories.
