The styles are made in Italy and include both hand dyed leather and croc details.
“LeSwim’s vibe is modern day Jackie O. If you look at her resort style during the Onassis years, it’s that perfect combination of classic, but in-the-fashion-know,” she said. “Sophisticated chic, but not too precious.”
Caras operated her namesake line of handbags and shoes from 1992 to 2005, which sold at Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman’s, before exiting the industry to pursue other projects.
“After taking a break and doing some editorial and styling, it was the right time for me to dive back into shoes. It made perfect sense from a styling perspective, to complete the resort look and add the sandal category to LeSwim,” she said.
Le Swim swimwear first launched for resort ’14. Prices for sandals range from $258 to $448 and the product will hit Le Swim’s website later this month.
Plus, Caras is confident that the industry is back to embracing new brands.
“It seems that the shoe market has really opened up to new designers over the past few years,” she said of her return to footwear.
