Industrial designer Edoardo Iannuzzi is about to give consumers more bang for their footwear buck. Today on Kickstarter, the 28-year-old Italian entrepreneur and his two partners are debuting Shooz  — a collection of customizable looks that allows the wearer to change the uppers and outsoles to create a variety of looks.

The process is simple: The patented system has two interchangeable parts, a Shooz Skin and Shooz Sole, that easily zip together. Once the zippers are linked, close the snap fastener on the heel.

There are more than 30 Skin uppers to choose from, from dress to casual looks in a mix of colors and materials. Outsole options include the Urban sneaker style; Running, designed for indoor sports and walking; and the Drive, a classic driver.

The Italian-made footwear features eco-friendly uppers made of cotton grown without pesticides or fertilizers and microfiber linings made of polymers from natural and renewable sources. In addition, consumers can select from a series of leather uppers.

The patent-pending anti-shock insoles are made of a proprietary foam that helps absorb the humidity produced by the foot.

Since the Skins take up the space of a T-shirt and lay completely flat in luggage or backpacks, they’re easy to pack and travel with.

The company is seeking $38,555 in funding for the project. The earliest campaign backers will be able to pre-order rewards, such as the Shooz Starter Pack, which will include one sole and any two skins for $199 with free shipping.
