Although the baseball off season is here and pre-season games won’t be played until March, now is as good a time as any to talk about the sport’s classic moments.
Nike is starting classic baseball discussions with its upcoming skate-shoe release in conjunction with Cincinnati, Ohio-based shops Anonymous Skateshop and Unheardof.
The Nike Dunk SB Anonymous Collection hits stores tomorrow. The SB Dunk Low Pro will retail for $90 and the Dunk High Pro SB will retail for $100.
The shoes pay tribute to the 1990 World Series, when the Cincinnati Reds swept the Oakland Athletics. The Reds’ bullpen was nicknamed the “Nasty Boys” for their dominance, not allowing the Athletics to score on them in roughly nine innings. The nickname is sewn into the heels of the SB Dunk Low Pro.
The SB Dunk Low Pro features a challenge red, metallic silver and white colorway, reminiscent of the Reds’ road uniform. The shoe features gold accents to represent the team’s title and the American flag on the heel panel.
The Dunk High Pro SB boasts a stadium green, white and speed yellow colorway, representing Oakland’s home jersey colors. The shoe also features the American flag on its heel panel.
The flags on both shoes pay tribute to the teams’ Gulf war tributes at the time, according to Nike.
