New York Jets quarterback and Under Armour-endorsed athlete Geno Smith will be out 6-10 weeks after suffering a broken jaw in a locker room altercation on Tuesday.

Jets’ first-year coach Todd Bowles said in a press conference that Smith was sucker-punched by second-year linebacker Ikemefuna Enemkpali on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. The New York Jets confirmed via Twitter that Smith’s injury would require surgery and Enemkpali has been cut from the team.

Smith, a second-round draft pick in the 2013 NFL Draft who played college football at West Virginia, is an Under Armour-sponsored athlete and has hit the field in the brand’s Spine Fierce MC cleats. Smith was the 26th rated quarterback in the league last season with a 44.3 QBR. He threw 13 touchdowns and completed 219 passes on 367 attempts in 14 games played. He also threw 13 interceptions for the season.

The third-year quarterback was benched in favor of Michael Vick after throwing three interceptions in a week eight 43-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Enemkpali, a sixth-round draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, played college football for Louisiana Tech. The linebacker played in six games for the Jets last season.
