Asics America has announced the launch of its most technically advanced sports performance footwear to date, the GEL-Quantum 360, which was designed to provide athletes with 360 degrees of the brand’s GEL Cushioning for maximum shock absorption and durability.
More than five years in development at the company’s Institute of Sports Science in Kobe, Japan, the GEL-Quantum 36 will be the official 2015 TCS New York City Marathon shoe in a limited-edition NYC-inspired graffiti print.
Asics GEL Cushioning System, the brand’s patented cushioning technology, reduces shock during the impact and toe-off phases while allowing movement through multiple planes as the foot transitions through the gait cycle. The GEL units are strategically placed throughout the shoe to provide athletes with maximum shock absorption without sacrificing stability.
Inside, the construction of the full-length “trusstic system” technology collects and releases energy for a spring-loaded effect to help runners power through each workout. The shoe also includes an advanced, barely there FluidFit upper for strategic support and comfort.
The shoe is available for men, men and children and comes in a wide range of color combinations. Retailing for $170 for adults and $120 for kids, it will be available nationwide on July 15 at select specialty and sporting goods stores and online at Asicsamerica.com.
A marketing campaign featuring the theme “GEL RUNS DEEP” includes paid digital, mobile, print, in-store displays, a dedicated GEL-Quantum 360 web page, a consumer contest and social media engagement.
Asics is partnering with more than 300 select retailers to launch the “Where’s GEL-Y?” contest — a social media game where users can participate in three interactive photo challenges on Instagram for a chance to win a pair of shoes. Details are available on Asicsamerica.com/wheresgely.
