Macy’s is getting in on the New York Fashion Week action with a new music-meets-fashion runway show at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 17.
The runway show features the fall’s top trends, alongside a music performance from Nate Ruess (best known as the frontman of Fun) and other yet-to-be-announced performers.
The show will feature designs from several labels including Jessica Simpson, Levi’s, Thalia Sodi, Tommy Hilfiger, Ryan Seacrest Distinction and more. Additionally all the proceeds from tickets for the concert will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and the CFDA. The concert will also be shown on Wed. Sept. 23 on E! network.
To coincide with the national airing of the show and New York Fashion Week, Macy’s will also host in-store events around the country with special designer appearances and presentations.
It’s a major investment by the department store as it looks to extend Fashion Week not just to its own flagship in New York but also to its other stores around the country, much like Fashion Night Out did several seasons ago. It’s also a buzzy pop-culture addition to the fashion-fueled month, especially since charity concert Fashion Rocks hasn’t been announced for 2015.
Tickets for the Macy’s concert go on sale Aug. 14 for cardholders.
