Prabal Gurung is not afraid to have fun with his colorways. For resort ’16, the designer was inspired by a tropical location, where he was attracted to the bright hues.
“I took a trip to Belize and was so inspired by the culture, the beautiful colors, all of it,” he said. “I love the overall color-blocking and graphic feel to the footwear this season. We continued with our strappy Berlinde sandal, which I love. And the wedges are really strong.”
From pumps with laser-cut detail, to pointed toe flats to gladiator inspirations, cage sandals and mod boots, color-blocking is front and center. Playful ankle wraps and straps also have a moment.
This is the designer’s third collection after a spring ’15 debut of six styles. Prices range from $695 to $1,200.
The designer often finds inspiration in his travels.“Having grown up in Nepal, I value my solitude time when I’m exploring,” Gurung told FN.
