New York Fashion Week is fast approaching, and invitations are showing up in mailboxes around the fashion industry. Marc Jacobs has already caused a stir with his invitation to the release party for “Gloss,” a book about 1970s photographer Chris Von Wangenheim. The party is hosted by Jacobs and Bookmarc and will be at the nightclub Tunnel.

According to Yahoo Style, the invitation, which was written in all caps, reads: “NO FLAT SHOES.” This is huge for sneakerheads or those who had planned to wear a chic flat.

Jacobs’ dress code comes as a surprise, given that he included flat sandals in his resort ’16 show. However, in the same show, he also sent models down the runway in platform disco boots, which fit the dress code described in the invitation.

That's one event I'd RSVP "no" to, had I been invited.

The invite suggests guests wear looks such as “Jerry Hall side-swept hair, sequins, gold lamé turbans” and more.

If this is what the invitation is like for a book launch, we can’t wait to see what Jacobs has up his sleeve for his runway show. New York Fashion Week runs from Sept. 10-17.
