The line’s creative directors are three sisters who range in age from 18 to 24 — Betina, Selina and Juliana Ocampo. And fashion is in their blood: Betina already designs a namesake ready-to-wear brand and the girls’ mother, Tina Ocampo, is the founder and creative director of Celestina, the nearly 10-year-old high-end accessories label.
“Loafers and slip-ons are our choice for everyday footwear for all seasons. They are incredibly comfortable and can complement any look. We plan on expanding into sandals for the summer and laceups for the winter,” said Betina Ocampo.
Prices for the shoes and bags range from $100 to $190.
“We often find ourselves splurging on designer shoes that we hardly wear. We spend hours on end questioning our next $300+ purchase. Can I wear this more than once? Can I walk around the city in this without hurting myself? What are the chances I’ll ruin them? Do I really need this or do I just want it?” Ocampo explained. “By providing statement footwear that is comfortable, stylish and affordable, we hope to bring the fun back into shopping.”
The sisters said they have various design aesthetics, which are translated across the collection. “My sisters and I have such contrasting personalities; it’s hard to design for just one type of consumer. I love bold colors, mixed prints, and designs with a lot of dimension,” Betina said. Selina added: “I prefer designs that are a little more refined and sophisticated, but with a hint of quirky.” Said Juliana: “I tend to gravitate toward designs that are loud and have a lot of attitude. I like the idea of comical symbols on sporty silhouettes.”
After New York Fashion Week, the trio will head to Paris to present the collection there.
