For those who don’t like to wait (full disclosure: guilty as charged), the launch of Moda Operandi in 2010 was a godsend, and the pre-order site has continued to go from strength to strength.
Case in point: Today, the site has exclusively launched pre-order of Dolce & Gabbana’s spring ’16 collection, shown what seems like only mere moments ago on the Milan Fashion Week runway (12 days, to be precise). It was there that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana continued their adoration of all things Italian with a collection aptly titled “Love Italia.”
Styled by Tabitha Simmons, a long-term collaborator with the brand, the Italian duo sent a bevy of models down the runway in footwear that can only be described as an ode to their home country.
Ornate shoes were very much on offer, thoughtfully embellished with pom-poms, roping and charm-beading. Slipper-style slides arrived adorned with jewels and intricate embroidery, and a flat mule featured a gold cherub and delicate, curved gold toe-capping.
The pièce de résistance came marching down the catwalk (perhaps “traveling” is a better term, as the collection paid tribute to the country’s tourists, who arrive eager to absorb the glories of the European country) in the form of a pair of calf-high boots so intricately and colorfully decorated that they managed to take complete focus away from the rest of the model’s ensemble — and trust us, there was a lot going on.
And with that image in your mind, I’ll bid you adieu so you can get exploring and start pre-ordering.
