Finding the perfect summer sandal can feel like a real mission — too simple, too fussy, too expensive. Luckily, Los Angeles-based brand Building Block has introduced style that will have you feeling ready for the summer.

Though the brand originally launched as a women’s handbag collection, it introduced its latest sandal style for the spring ’15 season. It retails for $450 and features Vegtan leather uppers and midsoles, as well as a rubber ankle strap.

The sandal—which is handmade in Italy— is available in two colorways, including a tan or black leather option. Sizes range from 36 to 40.

“It was a natural decision to want to interpret the materials we work with—leather and rubber—as wearable footwear,” said co-designer Nancy Wu, who founded the line with her sister, Kimberly Wu, in 2011.

“We plan to continue exploring footwear as an extension of our brand aesthetic and philosophy,” added Kimberly.

Why we love it: the design is unique and modern, but still simple enough to wear day-to-day. We see it paired with a knee-length dress or skirt (let it speak for itself).

The brand is currently carried in U.S. retailers like Net-a-porter.com, Mohawk General Store, Opening Ceremony, Assembly New York and Shopbop.
