If there was one best-dressed athlete that burst on the scene this year not just for performance but fashion, it was Cam Newton, whose shoe style definitely turned heads.
While the 2015-2016 MVP candidate for the Carolina Panthers has taken some heat for his unconventional fashion choices (including donning a tail for his post-game press conferences not once, but twice) Newton definitely doesn’t shy from the opportunity for a major shoe moment both on and off the field. He’s been spotted in everything from Versace to Giuseppe Zanotti.
Pittsburgh Steelers’ Antonio Brown doesn’t just have some stars painting their own shoes with his face, but he also has quiet a sneaker collection off the field. Just see his Yeezys from this past spring.
Sneakerheads abound in the NFL and Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants are poster boys. Cruz this year debuted his own sneakers through Nike and also was a fashion ambassador for New York Fashion Week Men’s, not to mention he’s the new face of Givenchy.
Odell Beckham Jr. definitely has made a name for himself in footwear with standout sneakers and a bold glittery loafer by Jimmy Choo for the red carpet at the ESPY Awards this past summer.
Russell Wilson, quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, has big points for hitting fashion high notes and consistently complimenting his uber-stylish girlfriend Ciara.
DeSean Jackson of the Washington Redskins also made some standout shoe moments this year, including his spiffy black and white sneakers at the BET Awards and sneaker loafers at the ESPY Awards over the summer.
And last but not least, fashion’s favorite golden kids also extends to Tom Brady of the New England Patriot’s and Gisele Bundchen. Just look how nice and spiffy this Ugg and Under Armour brand ambassador cleans up.
