Italian accessories brand Furla has opened a New York flagship at 51st Street and Fifth Avenue. The opening is part of Furla’s plans to increase the number of its directly operated retail locations and re-establish itself in the U.S. The brand used to have a store on New York’s Madison Avenue, but it closed several years ago.
“Fifth Avenue is renowned in New York City as one of the most prestigious shopping districts in America — and the world,” said Furla CEO Eraldo Poletto in a statement. “We felt it was important to ground the Furla brand with a beautiful flagship in this prime location in order to maximize the brand’s footprint in the U.S. market.”
To celebrate the store’s opening, Furla is releasing a limited-edition Fifth Avenue line of bags, small leather goods and accessories featuring New York-inspired details.
The opening coincided with the brand’s new footwear collection, as well as a fall ’15 advertising campaign shot by Mario Testino.
Furla says the store was designed to be contemporary yet still honor the 18th century Furla villa in Bologna, Italy. The brand has also recently opened boutiques in Spain and Japan.
