DSW Inc. is moving forward on its previously announced growth plan for the U.S. The Columbus, Ohio-based footwear retailer will add 22 locations across the country, including six stores in new markets, over the next four months.

In a first-quarter earnings call back in May, the firm had announced its intent to open 35 to 40 stores in fiscal year 2015.

The coming stores in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; Waco, Texas; Johnson City, Tenn.; Lincoln, Neb.; Orem, Utah and Tuscaloosa, Ala., will be new to those markets. And three of those locations will be in the smaller format that DSW has been developing for the past few years.

The company already has 449 stores in 42 states.

DSW will report second-quarter earnings on Aug. 25, before the market opens.
