Skechers announced late today it will air its spot with the legendary, and controversial, baseball player on Sunday. While the commercial has already been airing for several months, Rose will wear a different pair of Skechers’ Men’s Relaxed Fit shoes than he did in the original spot.
“Pete isn’t just a baseball legend, he’s an American icon – and there’s no better place for an American icon than the Super Bowl,” said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers. “Besides, what better place is there for Pete to state his case for the Hall? Maybe the hundred million plus people watching will turn the tide.”
Rose said, “I am thrilled that people around the world will get to see me walk a hall – even though it may not be THE Hall! I can’t say the Super Bowl was on my bucket list, but I’m certainly glad to be there.”

Reebok also is getting into the Super Bowl action with an ad that will air before the Super Bowl.
The Canton, Mass.-based brand launched a campaign last week with the tagline “Be More Human.” The debut ad, titled “Freak Show,” celebrates athletes who commit to staying fit to be better people in their daily lives. It was directed by A.G. Rojas in partnership with Venables Bell & Partners. The campaign also includes the “Be More Human Experience,” an interactive online destination built for desktop, tablet and mobile.
Reebok unveiled one of the Super Bowl’s most memorable spots with its “Terry Tate Office Linebacker” ad, while Skechers has generated big buzz with a diverse lineup over the years, from Kim Kardashian to Joe Montana to Mr. Quiggly, the adorable bulldog.
