Asics has forged a five-year global deal to serve as the official sponsor of the International Volleyball Association (FIVB). The contract takes effect on Jan. 1, 2016.

Under the deal, the athletic brand will support the FIVB by providing shirts for the beach volleyball athletes, as well as uniforms for the on-court personnel, referees and officials in both volleyball and beach volleyball.

“Asics is thrilled to be able to [partner with] the FIVB as an official supporter. We hope our new tops and uniforms will contribute to the spread of volleyball and beach volleyball and create a new image for the two sports,” said Asics President and CEO Motoi Oyama in a statement.

“We look ahead to an exciting new partnership [with Asics],” added Dr. Ary Graca, president of FIVB. “Together we can help enhance volleyball’s reputation and popularity around the world as we aim to realize our vision of becoming the No. 1 family sport entertainment.”

Volleyball continues to surge in popularity around the world. Beach volleyball, in particular, is gaining ground among younger and active audiences, especially in the U.S. and Brazil.

By outfitting players and referees and through unique customer-engagement initiatives, Asics hopes to help raise brand awareness and spark greater interest and participation in the sport.
