Bergdorf Goodman unwrapped its intricate arts-themed holiday windows last week, but the undertaking has been a nearly yearlong effort.
“We begin planning on Jan. 2, so it is an 11-month process,” said David Hoey, the retailer’s resident window dresser. “Research and development continue through the winter, and in mid-summer, we are in full production.”
A 28-person team spends two weeks installing the windows. What is Hoey’s favorite this year?
“A highlight is a window meant to evoke the marquee of a midcentury movie palace. We used over 600 feet of multicolored tubing,” he said.
