Keen Inc. has named industry vet Steve Meineke to the position of president, effective June 1, the company announced Tuesday.
Meineke, who most recently served as CEO of bike firm Accell North America, has held positions at Raleigh America Inc. and Mission Hockey, and as president of Specialized Bicycle Components.
Meineke said he has known Keen owner and founder Rory Fuerst for more than 20 years and is looking forward to heading the brand as it enters its second decade.
“I’ll be working alongside a very passionate owner who has really proven to be driven toward innovation and who has incredible supply chain knowledge,” he said. “In growing a business in these times, you’ve got to have innovation, great brand positioning and a strong supply chain.”
The executive steps into a role that has been vacant since late July 2013, when former Specialized COO Mike Abbott exited Keen after serving as president for less than a month.
Meineke, who will relocate from Seattle to Keen’s headquarters in Portland, Ore., said he’s feeling energized as he prepares to meet with global staff and partners, and to begin refining a three-year plan.
“This is a very innovative brand that is really headed for a great future based on the best momentum in the company’s history,” he said.
