AmfAR’s chairman, Kenneth Cole, expressed excitement for the night’s honorees, which included actresses Vanessa Redgrave and her daughter Joely Richardson, as well as noted photographer Peter Lindbergh.
While AmfAR’s “extraordinary progress” was Cole’s primary focus, he also was looking ahead to his upcoming fall presentation. “Next up, I’m going to immerse myself in fashion week, and a week from now, I’ll be fashion weak,” the designer quipped.
In response to the cold weather New York’s been receiving, many attendees chose style over comfort when it came to their shoes.
Rapper ASAP Rocky, in tow with model Chanel Iman, wore white Saint Laurent boots. “I didn’t have much to wear,” he said.
Former Victoria’s Secret angel Selita Ebanks picked sparkly daffodil shoes by Christian Louboutin.
Vogue editor Grace Coddington, who was attending to see Lindbergh honored, wore satin, bow flats by Marc Jacobs. “[Marc] is just the best,” Coddington said. “I can’t wait to see his collection this week.”
Fuzzier footwear could be found on singer Natalia Kills, who sported white “Loleata” mules by Agent Provocateur. Kills also announced plans to attend runway shows for Prabal Gurung and Honor, who designed her pleated column dress.
Some guests, such as AmfAR performer and actress Jane Krakowski and model and philanthropist Elettra Wiedemann, opted out of attending this year’s fashion week presentations to avoid the cold.
“I have these faux-fur boots lined to the tippy toes, and they’re waterproof. My life would be very sad this winter without them,” Wiedemann said.
