Women’s Trend: Sprezzatura Styles

For fall ’14, the studied nonchalance of Milanese dressing — known as “sprezzatura” —has taken flight. Decorative plumage and tapestry fabrics give traditional menswear styles a feminine touch. Fratelli Rossetti’s colorful woven loafer assumes a playful eccentricity, while Valentino’s ostrich feather adds whimsy to the sleek brogue. High-shine finishes, zippy lacing and flatform soles transform brogues by Stuart Weitzman, Santoni and Church’s, while The Office of Angela Scott offers a formal monk strap option. Though this gentlemanly trend is an antidote to soaring stilettos, the look here is anything but grounded.
