Belk Opens Dallas Flagship
Belk brought its ‘modern southern style’ to Texas with the opening of the retailer’s first flagship in the state, at Galleria Dallas. The 180,00 sq.-ft. store hosted its grand opening April 9 and continues with celebrations throughout the month. As part of Belk’s “Girls Night Out” series, designer Cynthia Rowley will make an appearance at the new store, along with local fashion bloggers.
Shoe Carnival’s ‘Devious’ Side
Shoe Carnival kicks off an advertising collaboration with Lifetime’s hit TV show “Devious Maids” for the premiere of season two this month. The show, one of Lifetime’s most successful, follows five maids as they serve the rich and famous in Beverly Hills, Calif. A series of television spots and in-store and social media activations named “A Surprise in Store” depict the anticipation of opening a shoebox. The launch is Shoe Carnival’s first national advertising campaign.
Aldo’s Atlanta Flagship
Aldo heads south with a redesigned flagship store in Atlanta this weekend. The location, in the upscale Lenox Square shopping mall, celebrates its grand opening April 18-20 with area ‘it’ girls Jessica Camerata (the blogger behind Mystylevita.com) and Tiffani Gatlin (of Theatlgotogirl.com), who will be on hand to offer styling tips for spring.
Boston ‘Preps for Summer’
Summer can’t come soon enough for a few preppy New England footwear brands. Boston-based lines Category 5 Boat Shoes, Cape Cod Shoe Supply, Beacon & Brewster, Harding-Lane, York Design Co. and Dock & Harbor will open a pop-up, dubbed Prep for Summer, April 19-28. The location, at 301 Newbury St. in Boston, will feature a varied offering from the labels. Ten percent of the proceeds next weekend will be donated to One Fund Boston, for survivors of the 2013 marathon bombings.
