Shop Talk: Hibbett Hits Delaware... Gander
Hibbett Sporting Goods' new Milford, Del., store

Hibbett Heads to Delaware
Hibbett Sporting Inc. has opened shop in Delaware. The retailer unveiled its first location in the state on July 27, in Milford, Del. Company execs said they have been looking for an opportunity to introduce the store there for several years. “Milford is a great market, and Hibbett Sports will be a great addition to Delaware,” President and CEO Jeff Rosenthal said in a statement. “We believe this new location is a win-win for Hibbett Sports and the Milford community.”

Gander Mountain Goes for Four
Gander Mountain is spreading out in Virginia. The company recently announced it will open a store this fall in Charlottesville — its fourth location in the state. The 45,000-sq.-ft. space will be located near the Rio Hill Shopping Center. It will stock a variety of footwear from such brands as Asics, Merrell, Rocky, Reebok, Keen, Irish Setter, Teva, New Balance, Brooks, Patagonia, Timberland, LaCrosse, Itasca, Saucony and Salomon. “We are thrilled to bring a new Gander Mountain store to Charlottesville … and give more of our friends in Virginia opportunities to experience our [product and service],” President and CEO David Pratt said in a statement.

Flip Flop Shops Does Good
Flip Flop Shops will continue taking health to heart. After the success if its Stress-Free America Month in June, the retailer has extended its Flip Flop Fridays program through the end of August, and its in-store and online donations to the American Heart Association through the end of the year. To date, the chain has raised $16,000 for the AHA, including a significant contribution from Sanuk. “We are beyond grateful for all the support we have received from consumers across the nation, our own shop owners and staff, and the action sports industry,” said President and co-founder Brian Curin in a statement. “We are extending the Flip Flop Fridays movement in hopes of spreading our message of ‘Pace, not race’ to even more people throughout North America.”
