Olympic figure skater Sasha Cohen has launched a Kickstarter campaign with partner Scott Annan to raise money for a new sock brand. Snoxx Socks are colorful ankle looks with snaps that keep them together when they aren’t being worn. The duo is looking to raise $25,000 by May 20, with the goal of launching by summer. With the initial funds, the pair will debut a sock in black and white for men and women, and red and white for women and kids. The initial offering would be available online for $10 a pair. “I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and have learned how great (and how difficult) it is to turn a dream into reality,” said Cohen in an email to potential supporters. For every $10,000 earned above the goal, Snoxx will unveil an additional color combo.
Fits Sock Co. and the National Park Foundation have teamed up to create a special-edition line for fall ’13. The collection — retailing for $19 a pair and inspired by vintage park posters of Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and others — is an extension of the brand’s spring ultra-light casual crew in a super-fine 18.5 micron merino wool. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the National Park Foundation. “Fits’ new line of National Park-inspired socks gives us the opportunity to give back and also to remind us of these special places every day,” said Samantha Bild, marketing and design director at Fits Socks.
After much talk on his family’s reality series, the only Kardashian son finally has entered the fashion business with his own line of dress socks. The Arthur George by Robert Kardashian line launched exclusively at Neiman Marcus in November, with a fuller rollout slated for the future. Made in partnership with Universal Hosiery Inc., the $30-a-pair socks are woven from 100 percent Egyptian cotton. And for every pair sold, the brand will donate another to the Family Emergency Shelter Coalition, a charity for the homeless based in Southern California.
Hot Sox is painting itself in an artistic light. The men’s and women’s sock and legwear label launched its Fine Art Collection earlier this month, featuring seven styles inspired by iconic masterpieces such as Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa,” Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” and Sandro Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus,” each available in two colorways. Hot Sox will roll out three more looks in July, paying homage to Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night,” Henri Matisse’s “The Dance” and Raphael’s Angels from “Sistine Madonna.” Retailing at $10 per pair for men and $8 per pair for women, the Fine Art Collection is carried at Nordstrom, Macy’s, HSN.com and on Hot Sox’s e-commerce site.
