The Beaverton, Ore.-based athletic firm announced a new strategic partnership with Swiss company Bluedesign Technologies to increase its access to the textile manufacturer’s production and assessment tools.
Bluedesign’s proprietary technology, the Bluefinder and Blueguide, which assist in making the production process more efficient, will be rolled out across Nike’s supply chain as part of the multiyear partnership.
The athletic giant’s global supply chain spans more than 50 countries and 800 factories.
“Nike was persistent with us in working to find a scalable solution for a supply chain as large as theirs,” Bluedesign CEO Peter Waeber said in a statement. “With the rollout of a positive list of textile chemicals for its broad supplier base, Nike can support its supply chain to improve chemical sourcing and deliver positive environmental and consumer safety benefits.”
